Volunteer and home staying

Experience to Teach English in local school and meet local life.
If you enjoy working with children and want to get to live the 'real' Sri Lanka, volunteer and home staying could be the ideal option for you. You can do more than just teach English on this project; you can be a sports coach, actor, entertainer and a friend too as you become fully immersed in community life. If you’re thinking about volunteering to teach English abroad and have no teaching experience, don’t worry! Children on the project range from 7 to 18 and will all be eager to make the most of having a native English speaker around. Having you there will mean they can develop knowledge of the language through more varied means such as conversation classes, games and songs.

You will live in a home-staying house near the village schools. The life that you will become a part of is mostly 'very simple'. But you can find a true Sri Lankan experience where you are enjoy being in the outdoors in a beautiful location, helping local people and the local wildlife.

The project is based in Polonnaruwa District, there are opportunities to enjoy weekend trips to visit the ancient cities such as Polonnaruwa and Kandy, or National Parks to encounter wild elephants. These trips aren’t included in your placement fee but our team will be happy to offer advice and help you plan your weekends.
